July 20—In New York City, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Detroit, protesters blockaded the sites where brutalizing and murdering pigs regularly gather. In New York and D.C., the offices of the FOP—the “fraternal order” of pigs—were locked down for hours by the protests. In Chicago, the Homan Square police torture center was blocked. This is the “black site” where thousands of mainly Black people arrested over decades had been transported to, detained without charges and without access to legal help, and beaten to extract confessions of crimes they did not commit. In Detroit, the notorious 3rd Precinct was shut down. Dozens were arrested in total in these actions called by BYP100 and Black Lives Matter activists.
