Powerful speakers at the initial rally on O22 included Carl Dix, an initiator of October 22 and representative of the RCP, Noche Diaz of the Revolution Club, LaToya Howell (mother of 17 year old Justus Howell who was murdered by Zion, IL police), Gloria Pinex (mother of Darius Pinex who was murdered by Chicago police), Eric Russell (who spoke for the family of Bettie Jones, murdered by Chicago police), and Mark Clements, survivor of CPD torture and wrongful conviction. Instead of honoring the march permit, police viciously attacked marchers, ripped a banner out of their hands, threw several to the ground, slammed their bicycles into others, piled on top of those they grabbed, and arrested at least four people. The marchers were undeterred by the police attack and continued down Michigan Ave., attracting more people to join in and getting their message out to thousands.

If you feel this world is intolerable, if you hunger for a radically different world and want to do something to contribute, this Sunday from 4-6 will be an opportunity to engage with this movement for revolution, meet these leaders, and hear about the Revolution Club's audacious plans to organize thousands of people over the next 12 months into the revolution. These plans require serious funds—for travel expenses, food, materials, and more—and they require you!
