Carl Dix: 11/11 I will protest—No “Fire and Fury” Against North Korea and Iran…
November 8, 2017 | Revolution Newspaper | revcom.us
This Saturday is Veterans Day, but I’m not marching in any of the “thank you for your service” and “America first” Veterans Day parades being held in cities across the country. I will be in the streets on Saturday—protesting, saying “No ‘Fire & Fury’ against North Korea and Iran; No U.S. Aggression in the Middle East.”
I am a veteran of the U.S. Army. I got drafted in 1968, and a year later I got orders to go to Vietnam. I refused because I was not going to be a part of that war for empire. I did 2 years in military prison for doing that. I came out of prison and became a founding member of the Revolutionary Communist Party, dedicating my life to fighting for emancipation of all of humanity.
Since then I have been fighting to stop police terror and mass incarceration. I co-founded the October 22nd Coalition to Stop Police Brutality and the Stop Mass Incarceration Network. I confronted the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, at a recent NFL owners meeting. I called him, and his buddy Donald Trump, out for acting like old-time Southern racists whipping up a lynch mob when they said football players who took a knee against white supremacy during the national anthem should be punished. And right now I’m throwing my all into mobilizing people to drive out the Trump/Pence regime before it’s too late.
On Saturday, I urge you to join me and others in the streets at one of the Veterans Day protests called by Refuse Fascism. Join us in saying “No Fire & Fury against North Korea and Iran and No U.S. Aggression in the Middle East!” Go to the website RefuseFascism.org to find out where the protests are happening and to get involved.
