April 28, more than 1,000 people—mostly high school and college students—confronted Donald Trump when he spoke in Costa Mesa, California, an upscale city in Orange County (home to more than a million Latinos). For hours, protesters with Mexican flags and signs denouncing Trump and his threatened wall on the Mexican border went nose-to-nose with police and got into intense confrontations with Trump supporters. It was the largest, most defiant protest of a Trump rally since protesters shut down his March 11 event in Chicago.
The next day, thousands more confronted Trump at a California Republican convention in Burlingame, south of San Francisco, forcing Trump to sneak into the convention through a back door.
