Revolution Club in Cleveland: Modeling a New Morality

So much of the culture & morality & behavior of the Revolution Club here in Cleveland is modeling the Club's points of attention. I will give a quick example of what I mean.

Point #2: We fight for a world where ALL the chains are broken. Women, men, and differently gendered people are equals and comrades. We do not tolerate physically or verbally abusing women or treating them as sexual objects, nor do we tolerate insults or “jokes” about people’s gender or sexual orientation.

Point #3: We fight for a world without borders, and for equality among different peoples, cultures and languages. We do not tolerate insults, “jokes” or derogatory names about a person’s race, nationality, or language.

In the projects in Cleveland, which are patrolled constantly by murderous police, where almost everyone you talk to has a friend or loved one killed by these pigs, a young Black man was responding particularly passionately to the agitation of the Revolution Club. They were in formation, breaking down why America was NEVER great, the countless crimes of this system, the kind of world that is possible through revolution, and the world-class revolutionary leadership of Bob Avakian. This man stood right across from the revolutionary who was breaking all this down, nodding and saying "Hell, yes!" Then he went to another revolutionary and asked for copies of the Message from the Central Committee of the RCP, USA. He enthusiastically distributed them to the other people who were listening. When the revolutionary who was speaking was done, the Club fanned out to talk to everyone there, urging them to get organized for revolution.

The man who was so passionate said, "You all are telling the truth. I'm about getting things done. Let's get this done. What can I do?" A revolutionary invited him to join us, and told him that right now, we are acting on a strategy for revolution. He should come with us right now and throughout the week, to fight the power, and transform the people, for revolution all throughout this nasty RNC, and break people out of the deadly dynamic of choosing between the "lesser of two evils." Another revolutionary was setting up their phone to show him "BA Through the Years" so he could see who the leader is that has examined the weaknesses of this system, the strengths and shortcomings of past revolutions, and has developed a method, vision and strategy for a real revolution that has a real shot at winning and remaking the whole world.

A male friend of the young man passed by and called something out. The young man looked up and said, "Naw, bitch, no way!" One of the revolutionaries said to him, "Hey man, you shouldn't use that word. You know, the only reason that word exists is to tear women down. Those are our sisters." The man responded by saying that he doesn't ever call women that. Another revolutionary said, "Well, that's good, but even so, that's the slave master's language. The only reason for that word is to dehumanize women everywhere. You can fight for a world without masters and slaves, but you gotta be about it. No room for the slave master's language." Someone else piped up, "That goes for 'nigger' too!" at which the young man took pause. He thought for a second and then said quietly, "You ARE serious." The revolutionaries agreed, and showed him the Club's Points of Attention. They explained: These are the Points of Attention for the revolution, because it is possible to get to a world beyond all these divisions into rich and poor, masters and slaves, rulers and ruled. BUT, it will take people NOW refusing to think the way this system has trained us, getting organized now around this leadership, these principles, and this way of seeing the world as it is, to lead the way.
