The mass outpouring in the wake of George Floyd’s vicious murder in May 2020 at the hands of Minneapolis police sparked one of the most massive and profound uprisings against police terror and white supremacy in U.S. history, and it spread across the globe. The pictures that follow capture some of the scale, diversity, courage and tenacity of this heroic rising. Go to A Beautiful Rising for more pictures from the U.S. and around the world—from Tokyo, Japan and Seoul, South Korea in Asia; to Nairobi, Kenya and Dakar, Senegal in Africa; to Mexico City and Rio de Janiero, Brazil in Latin America; to Paris and London in Europe.
“May Be the Largest Movement in U.S. History”
The New York Times estimated that between May 26, the day after George Floyd was murdered, and July 3, between 15 and 26 million people in the U.S. took part in some 4,700 protests in some 2,500 cities and towns across the country, with over a half million turning out in 550 places on June 6 alone, many of them white.
Protests Spread Across the Globe
Protests against police brutality, racism, white supremacy and in solidarity with the struggle in the U.S. took place in over 60 countries and on all seven continents according to researchers.1

On June 12, 300 people came together to say “Black and Brown United Against This System” in a march led by the Revcoms through downtown LA to the Central American neighborhood near MacArthur Park.
Protests Spread to Small Towns, Rural Areas and “Red States”

Trump Calls in Military to Assault DC Protesters — People Refuse to Back Down
On June 1, Trump called in the military to assault righteous George Floyd protesters so he could stage a Christian fascist photo-op. But protesters refused to be intimidated and protests continued in DC and across the country.
Righteous Toppling of Statues: Slave Owners, Confederate Generals, Imperialist Colonizers, Genocidal “Heroes,” and More....
As protests continue across the U.S. and all over the world against police murder and racism, the people are taking righteous action to topple statues of slave owners, colonial oppressors, imperialist rulers and other enforcers of systematic, racist, oppression.
July 4, 2020: Beautiful, Defiant Protests and Flag-Burnings Go Up Against Trump’s Fascist, White Supremacist “Make America Great Again” Ugliness
This included Washington, DC, where the Trump/Pence regime was holding an ultra-jingoistic celebration of America and its military power.
Trump Goes To Tulsa—Met by the Beautiful Rising
On June 19, Trump had threatened to viciously come down on anyone coming to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to protest the fascist rally he was holding there. But as an ugly, reactionary crowd attended Trump’s rally, there was righteous and defiant protest outside the arena, capturing the world’s attention and grabbing the split-screen. The Revcoms joined Refuse Fascism there in saying goddamn to Donald Trump and his fascist regime, bringing forth revolution.
Portland: Thousands Go Tit-for-Tat Against Trump’s Federal Agents
In Portland, in the face of violent fascist assaults by the federal forces sent in by the Trump/Pence regime as well by the local cops, people of all ages, nationalities, and genders stood up, defying the regime and their pigs, protesting for weeks straight since the police murder of George Floyd.
Outrageous Contrasts: During this beautiful uprising, there was a sharp contrast between —
OUTRAGEOUS Repression Against People Protesting Police Murder and Brutality and Other Injustices
And the OUTRAGEOUS Hands-off Treatment of White Supremacists, Cops and Other Reactionaries – including white supremacist Kyle Rittenhouse. After Rittenhouse murdered two protesters and wounded another in Kenosha, Wisconsin on August 25, the pigs let him walk past – with his assault rifle – and go home.

Heroic Protesters Give Their Lives Standing Up for Black and Brown People and Justice
At the Republican Convention Trump spread the big lie that protesters were “violent anarchists, agitators, and criminals who threaten our citizens.” In reality, in most cases where people have been killed at protests, it has been Trump’s “people”—cops, racist vigilantes, and reactionary storeowners who had murdered at least 20 heroic righteous protesters.
Hundreds of MAGA fascist thugs invaded Portland tonight. 1 person shot, possibly killed.
