On December 15 at Revolution Books in Harlem, the great jazz bassist William Parker led the Criminals in the White House Quintet in a performance of the suite No Joke. The concert was a benefit for Revolution Books, and 60 people attended. It was a powerful and riveting performance, definitely living up to Parker's description of the work as "lyrical, poetic, and full of the fire of revolution."
