** The social media dispatch from Bob Avakian, Revolution #81: Why I Am Not Running for President, directly takes on all the illusions about reforming this system in a hard hitting, crisp and powerful way. In the run up to the Presidential Debate next Tuesday night, between MAGA fascist Trump and war-crimes backing Kamala, this dispatch needs to be EVERYWHERE!
Be part of a big push between now and Wednesday to get this up and out in a major way: this should be plastered on walls, in conjunction with freeway banners and major mass flyering efforts. Set goals. Be part of this if your'e brand new or been involved for a while... this is a chance to shake awake many, many thousands of people who are being trained to think on the terms of this system. We'll update you through the weekend about how many people we're reaching nationally.
Revolution: Building Up the Basis to Go for the Whole Thing, With a Real Chance to Win says that the strategy for real revolution—in this time—must be "sharply posed directly against the BEB (Bourgeois Electoral Bullshit) of this capitalist-imperialist system, and in particular the BEB leading into the 2024 presidential election—all of which serves to keep people chained to this system."
Revolution #81, which concentrates so much about who Bob Avakian is and what he has spent his life fighting for and bringing forward stands in sharp contrast to all these other bourgeois politicians and so-called leaders, is a great way to do all this.
Stay tuned for a new fundraising goal so that we can combine this with a big push for online advertising with this through next week (and beyond).
** Last weekend, we got halfway to our goal of having 100 people share @BobAvakianOfficial on their social media. At least 50 put this in front of their friends and followers. This matters. But it's not enough, and we intend to fight through for the goal of 100!
In this, two things that did happen: there was a leap in people following BA on Instagram. There were people who weren't ready to share this themselves, but who want to hear what BA is saying. And second, in fighting to push out for people to share this, BA's posts got much more of a reach. This matters. But it's also not enough for people to just give something a thumbs up. If we're going to actually build up the forces for revolution in this time, we're going to have to fight for people to spread BA's voice themselves.
We also learned a lot through the process about the kind of struggle we have to wage. Some people who shared it responded to the fact that no one else besides Bob Avakian and the revcoms he leads is even talking about making a real revolution in this country. For others, there are questions—and differences—about whether they're going to put themselves out there to fight for something so controversial. And then there's all the bullshit ways that people see their social media as a way to "curate their image." So there's a struggle to wage with people—in a time when the whole future hangs in the balance, what are they going to fight for? As one person on our team said, "C'mon, you'll share ten cringe memes about how capitalism sucks, but you won't share the only leader in this country talking about how to end capitalism. That doesn't make any kind of sense!" A question for those people: Do you think sharing BA's messages will harm your "anti-capitalist brand"?
Having learned from all this, we're going to fight through to make this 100 shares goal, and more!
