Earlier this year, in an extremely timely and important talk, Bob Avakian (BA) made this point:

It is true that there are a lot of very bad things connected with the present polarization and the whole trajectory things are on, and this could lead to something really terrible; but it is also true, and of profound importance, that it is possible that we could wrench something really positive out of it—revolution, to put an end to this system and bring something much better into being. But, once more, this requires recognizing the situation, and the current trajectory of things, for what they are—and responding in a way and on a level that is commensurate with this, is in accordance with the profound stakes involved—acting to change things, urgently, toward the goal of getting rid of this whole system, and replacing it with something radically different and much better.

–From SOMETHING TERRIBLE, OR SOMETHING TRULY EMANCIPATING: Profound Crisis, Deepening Divisions, The Looming Possibility Of Civil War—And The Revolution That Is Urgently Needed. A Necessary Foundation, A Basic Roadmap For This Revolution

If you’ve never read or listened to this work, do so now. If you have, it’s a good time to return. This work provides, as the title says, the “necessary foundation” for understanding these times and the “basic roadmap” to the urgently needed revolution.

“The terrible” of this work’s title has been on full display this week. On this site this week, we dig deeper into what’s been going on and the causes behind it… we get into what’s being done to act on these conflicts in a way to rally more and more people to revolution… and we show you how YOU can be part of bringing forward the truly emancipating future BA’s talking about.

You could see the terrible in the Ukraine, where Russia has been waging a vicious war against the country of Ukraine, bombing schools and shelters… and where Biden, on his tour of Europe, increased the danger of a wider war, one that could involve chemical or even nuclear weapons, with the real prospect of not just massive destruction but the extinction of humanity. 

You could see the terrible in Idaho, Missouri, and a raft of other states where cruel laws have been passed that would effectively outlaw abortion and either punish women for having one or sentence them to forced motherhood. All these laws, and other similar ones, await is a go-ahead decision from the Supreme Court which would strike down the right to abortion—a decision widely expected to be delivered in June. You could see it in the way that the Democratic Party, and their followers in the so-called pro-choice movement, are actually putting a veil of silence on this and demobilizing people in a situation that is the political equivalent of a ten-alarm fire. 

You could see the terrible in the unconscionable demagogy of the fascist Republican Party in the Senate hearing on the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. This is where the two sides of the capitalist-imperialist ruling class—the fangs-out racist and repressive fascists concentrated in the Republican Party and the more “old-line” rulers in the Democratic Party—went at it, with the fascists once again setting even more vicious terms and advancing toward their goal of an even more vicious and qualitatively more repressive, white supremacist, male supremacist, American chauvinist and ignorant society than the putrid one we have now.

You could see the terrible in the UN International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report on the disastrous pace of climate change and the utter lack of anything meaningful being done by the governments (for more on the IPCC report, go here and here).

We tell you about that reality this week. But, again, we do more than tell you—we cut through the lies to show you the truth about why this is happening; what it has to do with the interests of humanity; and how, out of this dangerous and cruel insanity, “it is possible that we could wrench something really positive out of it—revolution, to put an end to this system and bring something much better into being.”

We tell you—we show you—what can and must be done about this, and how you can be part of it.

BA makes this point in that talk:

[A]s the “the normal way” society has been ruled is failing to hold things together—and society is increasingly being ripped apart—this can shake people’s belief that “the way things have always been” is the only way things can be. It can make people more open to questioning—in a real sense it can force people to question—the way things have been, and whether they have to stay that way. And this is all the more likely to happen if the revolutionary forces are out among the people shining a light on the deeper reality of what is happening, and why, and bringing out that there IS an alternative to living this way.

So, get into this issue and learn about this. Learn how this is being fought and how the revcoms are working to bring forward a revolutionary people in their millions to not only fight this, but to take things to the stage where we could make a revolution against the entire system that has put humanity in this terrible, wrenching situation. And learn about the leader whose work enables us to wage this fight with the maximum chance to win: Bob Avakian, the architect of the new communism and the most important political leader in the world today—including through reading, now, an important work we are highlighting this week: “Reform or Revolution… Questions of Orientation, Questions of Morality.” This work powerfully makes the case for why you, if you care about any of this, need to get into this movement for revolution—nothing less.
