As the tsunami of mass starvation engulfs Gaza, Israel continues to carry out its overall genocide of the Palestinian people—widening its military assault, seizing more Palestinian territory, targeting and slaughtering civilians, including those seeking food, attacking the city of Deir al-Balah and leveling the city of Khan Younis. As this horror show unfolds, Israel’s fascist movement pushes for ethnic cleansing and Jewish re-settlement of Gaza.

All this has brought life in Gaza to the brink of annihilation. It is being fully and actively backed and enabled by the fascist Trump regime, at the head of the U.S. imperialist system. And it is happening before the eyes of the whole world—countless images of people fainting and dying of starvation, children and babies blown to bits, building after building obliterated.

Daily Mass Killings. Mass killings of civilians are continuing if not escalating, including at U.S.-Israeli–run “aid sites.” On July 20, Israeli forces killed at least 115 Palestinians, including 92 seeking aid. Another 60 were killed the next day, and on July 22, 43 more, including 10 aid seekers. Israeli attacks killed more than 62 on July 24, including 19 massacred while attempting to get food aid. On July 27, Israeli airstrikes killed 88 Palestinians and injured 374. The official death toll in Gaza since October 2023 now stands at 59,821, with 144,851 wounded, with the actual number killed probably double this.¹

Deliberately targeting civilians with drones: Israel constantly claims it only attacks “military targets.” Now the news outlet +972 has revealed that Israel is deliberately targeting civilians with grenade-firing drones to enforce its orders demanding that Palestinians leave an area. Israeli soldiers admitted to +972 that they do this so Gazans will leave their homes and “learn” not to return to them. One soldier said using drones to target Palestinians was “like a video game.”² Soldiers also told the magazine that while “all Palestinians killed were listed as 'terrorists,'" most, if not all, were unarmed civilians.

Attacking Deir al-Balah, Gaza’s “Last Standing” City. Israel has already attacked and devastated other cities and towns in Gaza including Gaza City, Khan Younis, Jabaliya, Rafah, and Beit Lahia. This past week it attacked Deir al-Balah for the first time. This city in central Gaza has been something of a safe haven for tens of thousands of displaced Gazans, and where many humanitarian groups have set up their operations. The forced evacuation of parts of Deir al-Balah mean that some “88% of Gaza is now under displacement orders or within an Israeli ‘militarized zone,’ meaning that over two million people are supposed to squeeze into a fragmented 12% of the enclave,” Drop Site News reports.

Leveling Khan Younis. This was Gaza’s second largest city, and Israel has now leveled it to the ground, according to a new study: "Israel's Destruction of Gaza: Almost Nothing Is Left of Khan Yunis, Satellite Photos Show." One displaced resident said, “This isn't just fighting, it's wholesale destruction. Everything is gone.”

Fascist Israeli politicians and settlers explicitly plan genocide: The Guardian reported: “A group of far-right Israeli politicians and settlers met in parliament this week to discuss a plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza, annex the territory and turn it into a hi-tech, luxury resort city for Israelis.” They called their vision “the master plan for settlement in the Gaza Strip.” It including constructing 850,000 housing units. They said that “the US had given them the ‘green light’ to transform [Gaza] into a ‘resort town’ once they had completed the ethnic cleansing of more than two million Palestinians.”
